Constructions are well under way. 
 Port of Hitachinaka has an International Container Terminal, which is connected to Kita-Kanto Expressway. The distribution of North Kanto Region has been relying on Tokyo Bay of which transportation is crowded in both land and marine. The completion of Port of Hitachinaka opened up a new gate, which makes efficient transportation and development of the economy of Eastern Japan.

1. Capacity of the Port
The Container Terminal is able to accommodate large container ships of 50,000 tons - scale, which is the same as the Terminals of Tokyo Bay.

2. Common Use Facilities
December 1998: North Wharf Domestic Trade Terminal was opened.

April 2000: North Wharf Foreign Trade Container Terminal was opened.
