- In the North wharf there is a largest container terminal in Japan. Container ships with various freights from all over the worlds are coming to the Port.
- The Hitachinaka Thermal Power Plant is under construction in the North Wharf. This Power Plant will be able to produce the half the quantity of electricity used in the entire Ibaraki Prefecture.
- Presently, Tokyo Bay overflows with a lot of ships and the roads in the metropolitan area are very crowded. When the Port of Hitachinaka and Kita-Kanto Expressway are fully completed, three times more round trips per day from Utsunomiya to Port of Hitachinaka will be possible rather than only one round trip from Utsunomiya to Tokyo Bay.

- To ease the congestion of Tokyo Bay where cargo boats concentrate, the Port of Hitachinaka was constructed as an International Container Terminal Port. From it, large-scale container ships with a lot of freights can go in and out. Moreover, the Thermal Power Plant and other facilities are constructed. The port is expected to open, which will open the gate to the bright 21st century.
